LightHouse Academy was founded by two dedicated fathers, Vibhu Athavaria and Vasileios Kyritsis, who were driven by a shared vision to provide the best possible education for their daughters and other children in Ubud, Bali. Frustrated by the limited educational options available, Vibhu and Vasileios set out to create a school that combines traditional educational principles with modern, inquiry-based approaches. Their goal is to foster a love of learning and entrepreneurial spirit in every student, ensuring they are well-prepared for the journey into young adulthood and beyond.
Vibhu Athavaria
Vibhu Athavaria grew up in India, immersed in a family of educators—his mother, aunts, and sisters are all teachers. With a strong background in problem-solving, he spent years working in Silicon Valley before deciding to leave the tech industry in search of a better work-life balance. Four years ago, he moved to Bali, where he discovered the need for high-quality education for his daughters. This challenge inspired him to co-found LightHouse Academy. Vibhu's passion for education and problem-solving drives the school's vision to provide a balanced, inquiry-based learning environment that nurtures students academically and personally, preparing them for future success.
Vasileios Kyritsis
Vasileios (Billy) Kyritsis, a Greek-Canadian, grew up in Montreal. He has worked in both the real estate and movie industries, gaining diverse experiences along the way. With a background in accounting, Billy's curiosity and analytical mindset have enabled him to gain a deep understanding of various fields, leading to the creation of several successful businesses. Before co-founding LightHouse Academy, he established Silks Ubud. Billy's dedication to education and his entrepreneurial spirit are integral to the school's vision, providing a dynamic learning environment that encourages students to explore, innovate, and thrive in both academics and entrepreneurship.
